Right of Way
With winter upon us, while the law year around, please show some respect, courtesy, and follow the law to anyone walking. Anyone legally crossing the road at an unmarked or marked crosswalk ALWAYS has the right of way. ALWAYS. If the pedestrian is in an Unmarked crosswalk, the driver on the side of the pedestrian must stop. Pedestrians in Marked crosswalks, drivers from all directions must stop until the pedestrian is out of the crosswalk. Rather simple, yet drivers in the Taylorville area rarely comply. Please don’t take my word on this. Read the 2022 Illinois Rules of the Road booklet easily readable, downloadable online. Draw your attention to Pages 26, 27, and 40.
