Virginia (“Ginny”) Faye Ostermeier

October 14, 1952 — February 2, 2022

Virginia (“Ginny”) Faye Ostermeier, was a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, caregiver, healer, teacher, adventurer, and cheerleader to those in need. She continued in her strength and concern for others until she left this world peacefully with family and a caregiver on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. It was a late diagnosis of signet ring gastric cancer. She was 69.

Ginnys strengths and ambitions in life were shown by how she was involved in the community and love for her family and animals. After graduating high school, she was a Captain in the Air Force, became an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in St Louis, a Physicians Assistant, and went on to teach Nursing at Richland Community College. She could be found helping and caring for relatives and strangers, patching up injured animals, and flying to pick up those who were stranded. Virginia enjoyed walks with Lily, sailing catamarans, flying small aircrafts, traveling and spending time with nieces and nephews. She was aspiring to complete her Pilots license for a four seated Cessna and looked forward to traveling more.

Virginia, was born to Karl Ostermeier and Frances (Jenkins) Abel on October 14, 1952. She is survived by sisters Linda McDermith, Karen Kramer, and several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, sister Barb Canion and brother Terry Ostermeier

It is unlikely that her work is finished with us and she will continue to look on from us above. The memorial service is scheduled on Saturday February 12, 2022, 10:00am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylorville, Illinois.
