Lancers let down by North Mac, 40-36

GIRARD — Lincolnwood traveled to Girard on Tuesday night to take on the North Mac boys basketball team. The Lancers vs Panthers matchup came down to the final seconds with the home team coming out on top. Lincolnwood falls just short of victory by a final score of 40-36.

The Lancers struggled to get passed the Panther defense early on. The team only put up two points in the first quarter. They came back in the second only and went into the half only down by one. 

Will Jenkins lead his team in scoring. The senior put up 17 points in the non-conference matchup. Adding 6 points of his own was Jonah Elvidge. The freshman sank 2 three-pointers in the game. Braden Whalen put up 7 points shooting 75% at the field goal line. Brady Schmedeke and Gabe Armentrout rounded out scoring for the Lancers. Both of the sophomores drained shots from beyond the arch to notch 3 points.   

After halftime is when things got interesting. Lincolnwood came out swinging and took a 28-25 point lead heading into the fourth. The final quarter was a show from both teams. The Panthers put the game away when they went up by by two and then by four late in the match. Lincolnwood failed to match before the final buzzer. 

The Lancers were defeated by the defending Panthers; 40-36 the final. 

Next up, Linolnwood will be in Springfield taking on Calvary. Tip-off for the Friday night matchup will be at 7:30.
