(PANA) — The Pana High School girls basketball team, ranked third in Class 2A basketball in the state, are one of the top seeds in the Monticello Sectional as the girls state tournament gets underway this weekend.
Pana is playing in the Arthur (Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond) Regional. The other teams are Shelbyville, Monticello, Sullivan, Tolono and host Arthur.
Teutopolis is the other number one seed and are in the Salem Regional.
Pana, 29-1, will see their first action on Monday night, Feb. 14, at 6:00 p.m. in the first semi-final game. They will face the winner of the Shelbyville-Monticello contest which will be played on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 1:00 p.m.
Also on Saturday, at 4:00 p.m., Sullivan plays Tolono Unity.
The other game on Monday evening, the second semi-final, features Arthur against the winner of the Shelbyville-Monticello game, which tips at 7:30 p.m.
Finals of the regional is Friday, Feb. 18, at 7:00 p.m. when the winners of Monday night’s games play each other. The winner advances to the sectional tournament in Monticello where they play the winner of the Marshall Regional winner at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22.
