PSH to take on Jacksonville Our Savior in State Tourney

AUBURN — The Pana Sacred Heart Boys Basketball team is headed to the IESA 8th grade State Tournament!

Pana’s 8th grade has had quite the season leading up to the playoffs. Finishing with a solid 12-7 cap to the 2021-’22 regular season. The successful season lead them to earn a first round bye for Regionals.

The tournament began January 29th and teams such as Taylorville Visionway, Pocahontas and Mulberry Grove fought their way to the final four teams remaining. Pana defeated Visionway by a final score of 46-31. For the Regional Championship they

faced off against Pocahontas. Pana demolished their opponent 50-20 to move onto the Sectional round.

The game, which took place on this passed Thursday (Feb 9), pitted PSH against Effingham Sacred Hearts. The ‘Hearts’ defiantly showed up that night with the game being a close one throughout the match. Pana came out on top in the Sectional finale, beating Effingham 55-47.

Now the 8th grade boys get ready to climb their next mountain, or several. They will face off against Jacksonville Our Savior (26-1) this Saturday, February 12 in part of the State Tournament. Tip- off will be at 11:30am.
