Harold Benton “Benny” Carter, 88, of Apollo Beach, Fla., died February 7, 2022 in Lifepath Hospice, Ruskin, Fla.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2022 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Assumption or Assumption VFW Tacusah Post #6577.

Benny was born in Oakford, IL, the son of Lowell Benton and Juanita (Severens) Carter. He married Sharon Hinton on July 3, 1960 in Oconee, Ill. She survives.

Benny was a member of First Christian Church of Ruskin, Fla, Elks Lodge #2672 of Ruskin, FL and Assumption VFW Tacusah Post #6577. He served in the United States Army and formerly owned and operated Carter’s Blue Hills Resort on Table Rock Lake in Missouri.

Surviving is his wife, Sharon; son, James Benton (Nancy) Carter of Cape Fair, M.o.; daughter, Kayla (Richard) Dillard of St. Charles, M.o.; grandchildren: Kamille (Matt) Camden, Rachael (Bobby) Quinn and Jared Benton (Catalina) Counts; sister, Donna (David) Lee of Mesa, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents.
