Dear Editor,
Hearing and seeing a lot of news and uproar about the courts decision to put a hold on JBs mask mandate for schools. I think a lot of folks are missing the issue.
First – a Governor’s mandate that is two years old is crap! If it’s that important (or truly science based) then the General Assembly should have taken legislative action! So as we know our General Assembly is Democrat heavy, meaning if they want to support their Democrat Governor they could easily pass legislation.
Second – JBs mask mandate doesn’t specify the type of mask. If this was science based they would easily define and fund the proper type of mask. We’ve heard from medical experts that cloth masks are nothing more than facial decorations, not effective. The medical type masks we seen all the time are only good for 3-4 hours, if they are left on and tightly fitted. Lastly KN95s and N95s are designed for a single use, but if properly maintained can be used up to five times (maybe 40 hours).
So the solution is that the General Assembly needs to take action and support their Governor, and they need to specify and fund the proper type of masks. Our General Assembly is failing us, only because they haven’t the courage, instead wanting to keep their hands clean. Let JB be the fall guy if this fails! JBs failure (and the media) to properly explain the situation and root cause is another matter.
Lastly because our General Assembly is failing to support the Governor, it’s costing us taxpayers money. These lawsuits aren’t cheap! Every hour or dollar they spend fighting lawsuits or appeals, is less time and money they are spending on other important issues!
Time for common sense, hard working, courageous, patriotic leadership in Springfield! We can’t afford anymore self serving cowards!
