KINCAID — Freshman Pony, Lilly Wake, drives to the basket successfully against three Hawk defenders while senior, Mia Pop, gets in the rebounding position. Wake and Pop finished with a combined 15 points in the non-conference finale.

KINCAID — The South Fork basketball team played their final game of the regular season on Thursday, February 10. Lead by junior, Gianna Pop, the Ponies emerged victorious over the Riverton Hawks, 55-44 the final.
These girls came to play in the non-conference finale. They snagged the lead early and refused to give it up without a fight.
Gianna Pop set the pace and lead her team in scoring with a 17 point performance. Just behind her was teammate Lilly Wake. The freshman star finished with a cool 12 points. The two also finished with 5 steals in the contest.
Senior/junior combo Rylie Burney and Brianne Drnjevic added a combined 18 to the point total. They also both had two assists and 6 combined rebounds. Senior Pony, Mia Pop, put up 3 points, 3 boards and shot 75% from the free throw line. Rounding out the scoring for the South Fork team was Jara Shoulders and Jayden Neal. The freshman and sophomore added a combined 5 points and 4 rebounds. The sophomore Neal also notched 2 assists and a steal.
The Ponies sat comfortably at the end of the match and were able to reflect on their beyond successful 14-11 record on the 2021-’22 regular season.
They will face off against the Lincolnwood Lancers for their first playoff game on Saturday. Tip-off will be at 2:00pm in Kincaid.
