Robert E. Brown, Sr.

February 17, 1928 — January 31, 2022

Robert E. Brown Sr, 93 of Taylorville passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 4:53 p.m. at Taylorville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylorville, Ill. He was born on February 17, 1928 in Grayson County, Ky., the son of Abe and Mary (Alvey) Brown. He married Ruth L. Perrine on January 11, 1948 in Taylorville, Ill. She preceded him in death. Bob worked in autobody repair for Hopper Grant, Page, Trinity Chevy and Bucks Autobody in Pana, Ill. He served in the United States Navy as a shoe cobbler from 1946-1950.

He is survived by his son: Robert E. (Kim) Brown Jr. of Stonington, llL, grandchildren: Josh (Jennifer) Brown, Rex (Tara) Brown, George (Michelle) Lumb, Robert (Cathy) Lumb, Nicole (Dayle) Lawyer, Lea Ann Garrett and Roger Dixon, great-grandchildren: Sara Brown (Gavin Norris), Jakob (Elizabeth) Brown, Braydan Brown, Olivia and Ella Brown, Justin Lumb, Jenna Lumb, Jeff Westenhaver, Bobby Lumb, Brittany Wilson, Austin Lumb, Brent Lumb, Nathan Lawyer, Joey Lawyer, Jessica Garrett, Anthony Garrett, MacKenzie Dixon, great-great-grandchildren 20, brother: LeeDon Brown of Decatur, Ill., son-in-law: Walter Ratts. nieces, nephews and cousins: several. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughters: Mary Louise Ratts and Joanne (George) Lumb; brothers: Alvah Brown, Paul Brown, and Herman Brown. sisters: Irene Norris and Beulah Hunt.

Private graveside services with military honors will be held with inurnment immediately following at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Ill. at a later date.

Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
