Nothing but success for the TJHS volleyball teams

ROCHESTER — The Taylorville 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams traveled to Rochester on Wednesday night. The Rockets vs Tornadoes matchup is regarded as the biggest game of the Jr. High volleyball season. Both games had proof to back that statement up. The two games went the distance and then some adding an extra set to both matches for overtime purposes.

The 7th grade took their match by two games to one. Taking the first set by a final score of 25-23 then the second, 24-26. The match was even more of a battle than anyone anticipated.

“These are two really good teams.” 7th Grade Head Coach Pam DeWerff stated “This was an important game for us with Regionals coming up.”

The final match Taylorville played their game. They allowed their opponent to

make the majority of the mistakes and when they slipped up put it directly behind them. They defeated Rochester in the final set, 25-17.

The 8th grade took the court next and the similarities were imminent. Both teams wanted this game badly and it showed through each of their play. Taylorville had a few dominant runs, but so did Rochester. Each team continually one-upped the other which made for an exciting match for everyone.

The Tornadoes lost the first by a final score of 16-25 but that fact only pushed them to be victorious the next two. They won out their next sets by scores of 25-14 and 25- 17.
