TAYLORVILLE — An annual favorite way of celebrating FFA week in the county is “Drive Your Tractor To School Day.” Shown above, this is a day where students can drive themselves to school in their favorite tractor. The day will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 this year.

TAYLORVILLE — National FFA Week is about to hit high schools across the country and Taylorville High School has a full week of fun and celebration planned. Even though it is a short week with students and teachers out of the building on Monday in observance of Presidents’ Day, there is no shortage of FFA and agriculture-related events on the schedule.
First thing Tuesday morning FFA officers will kick off the week with a meeting with National FFA President, Cole Baerlocher! Taylorville students will listen to Cole talk about his experiences as a national officer and FFA member, and also have the opportunity to chat one-on-one with him and ask questions of their own. Tuesday is also “Drive Your Tractor to School” day, so look for them if you drive past the school and inside the school, there will be a lot of blue and gold, as it is “FFA Apparel” dress day!
Wednesday should be interesting as the FFA Chapter is introducing a new dress-up day called, “Anything But Your Backpack.” On this day, students will be carrying their books and other class materials in, well, anything but a backpack! Wednesday is Teacher/Staff Appreciation Day. FFA members show their appreciation to THS faculty by hosting a cook-out lunch. FFA members will grill pork burgers and serve other sides and snacks to their teachers and other school staff.
On Thursday it is the FFA members who are served lunch by the Taylorville FFA Alumni. Alumni members cook lunch for the ag students in the Ag shop. This is also “Battle of the Brands” Day, and students will be seen in all sorts of apparel to show their support for their favorite brands, such as John Deere vs Case, Chevy vs Ford, Pioneer vs DeKalb, and so on.
Friday rounds out FFA Week with “Dress Like Your Favorite Teacher Day.”
