THS Mid-Winter Band Concert Thursday evening

Mother Nature forced a rescheduling of the 94th Annual Mid-Winter Band Concert. To this end, the Mid-Winter Band Concert and the Evening of Jazz and Percussion will take place on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7:00 p.m. The performances will take place in the Taylorville High School cafeteria.

Seniors and their parents will be recognized.

The John Philip Sousa Band Award and Louis Armstrong Jazz Award will be presented and the next Tornado

Marching Band Drum Major will be announced.

The band, under the direction of TCUSD3 Director of Music, Chris Gunn will be performing Centuria by James Swearingen; National Emblem by E.E. Bagley/arranged by Loras Schissel; Nessun Dorma by Pucini/arranged by Jay Bocook; Folk Song Suite – Movement 1 by Ralph Vauaghn Williams; and Metalla by Jan Van Der Roost.

The Jazz Band is scheduled to perform Chrysanthemum by Bob Turner, Freddie

Freeloader by Miles Davis/arranged by Michael Phillip Mossman, Don’t Let Up by Erik Sherburne/arranged by Bob Turner, Zaragoza by Bob Turner, Bag’s Groove by Milt Jackson/arranged by Mark Taylor, and Philadelphia Funk Machine by Bob Turner. The Percussion Ensemble will perform Fresh Trash by Ed Argenziano.

The concert is free and open to the public.
