EDINBURG — Taking on his second year as EHS Head baseball Coach John Bryan and team will aim their goals as realistic as possible and work to improve from there.
“Our first, and probably most important goal is to get back to winning. Win one game.” stated the patient Head Coach “ This program has been down for a long time and we want to change that. It all starts with win number one though. After that, we just want to have success throughout the year and improve each and every game.”
The key players of the Wildcat baseball team include junior pitcher, swiss army knife and team captain, Dillon Glasscock.
“He (Glasscock) is very knowledgeable when it comes to baseball and has been able to also help out our younger players as well with any questions they might have. says Bryan“
Joining him are senior outfielders Quinton Perry and Colin Hardin. Both are returning players whose ceilings are sky high. With Perry who has huge upside and Hardin coming off his best season the two will look to pave the way for future players to come, some of which are on the team!
Sophomore, Gabe Clark, and Freshman, Anded Hout, will be the solid additional young talent. Clark lives and breathes baseball which earns him high praise from coach Bryan.
“Gabe is a sophomore in high school, with probably our most talent of the young players.”
As for Hout he is nothing short of impressive.
“Seeing his abilities as just a freshman, I can tell he is going to be a good ball player and this year is going to be very important for him to develop his game and learn from his older peers.”
The Edinburg Wildcat baseball team looks to just be sanding out the rough edges and feel they are in a much better position than their predecessors.
With Tri-City being the early predictions to take the conference early the Wildcats can sleep soundly knowing their hard work could possibly pay off. An MSM conference title has the team and fans alike excited for thie upcoming 2022 season.
For now though their focused on building sound fundamentals and transforming that hard work into success one catch, swing and pitch at a time.
“The one thing I want to say is don’t sleep on these guys. They are a great group of kids who want to turn around a program that has known nothing but losing for many years. They want to be the ones to change that, and they have put in the work to try and make that a reality. I am excited to see how we do this year for sure.”
