TAYLORVILLE — Second year Head Coach, Megan Rhodes, is keeping an eye out for team and overall improvement.
Going 4-17 last season the Taylorville Tornadoes will set a double-digit win goal.
“We’re building.” states Rhodes “We have plenty capable players to reach our goal of ten wins this year!”
This is her second season as the Head Coach of the Taylorville team. Rhodes previously was the JV coach for the Pana Panthers and gave private pitching lessons beforehand. She is a lover of the game and has followed the sport since she was young. She is assisted by JV Head Coach Chris Durham and Assistant Coach Natalie Lavin.
Taylorville has three returning seniors Meghan Donnan, Haley Peterson and Morgan Wright.
Pitcher Morgan Wright will be utilized the most. She is an expert at spotting the ball and has increased her pitches from last year from just two to four pitches. Peterson will play just about anywhere on the defensive side of the ball. Both are solid choices and will make their mark on on offense as well.
They have a total of four juniors and seven sophomores on the varsity team in 2022.
There are also a total of four freshman athletes on this years softball team. They have, in turn, pushed the upperclassman to improve and work harder.
“They are gonna be looking at some playing time so everybody all the way around has put in more effort this year.” states a hopeful Coach Rhodes
Compared to last year the team has already seen an improvement in their drive and willingness to get out there.
“Looking forward to getting better this season, hopefully improve and get more wins!” says Rhodes “The girls have a better attitude about it this year. They are working harder to get better each day.”
