My husband and I are very concerned about the proposed cannabis dispensary coming to our beautiful community of Taylorville. We believe it is a step toward more dangerous drug use among residents as do the city law enforcement agencies, especially the drug task force.
We were also disappointed with recent gambling establishments that have spring up. With crime so prominent in bigger cities, this is only an invitation for that crime in our community. Within the last few years, we personally have seen an increase in crime in our own neighborhood! We can’t help but think the gambling and more readily available alcohol are the culprits.
As servants of our community, our city board assumes this will help with revenue for the city. With recreational drugs readily available, more officers and more social workers will be needed to combat the effects. We have Illinois residents leaving out state because of higher taxes and higher crime rates. I’m afraid Taylorville is next. To boost revenue, maybe we should focus more on our locally-owned shops and how to help them–making our city more appealing–instead of adding more vices. What’s next?
Maybe the silent majority needs to stand up and say, “Wait! This is not right!” Let’s keep Taylorville a beautiful place to live.
Linda Kay Tippet, Taylorville
It’s an amazing phenomena. Trump-haters cry authoritarianism, yet, are seemingly oblivious to authoritarian policies of the Democrat Party. Those who prattle on about illusory Donald Trump lies are, woefully and willingly, blind to lies emanating from Joe Biden and the Democrats.
Example: Trump “Russian Collusion” (debunked); “faithful Catholic” (most pro-abortion, pro-LGBT president in history); 2020 BLM/Antifa protesters “peaceful” (120 days of looting, burning and attacking courthouses and police precincts causing 30 deaths, 2000 policemen injured and two billion dollars in property damage); secure border (wide open); too many guns caused increase in crime (defund police policies).
Here’s more: Jan 6 “insurrection” narrative (5 Trump supporters died-no policemen died); Afghanistan victory (disaster); Putin and the oil companies caused high gas prices (Biden’s war on fossil fuels); infiltration is transitory and 7.5% annual inflation not “bad” (40 year high); mandated vaccines (natural immunity is superior); Ivermectin only a horse wormer (Ivermectin efficacious against COVID); and lockdowns will stop COVID spread (Johns Hopkins’ study — they did little).
The global migration policies produced terrible public health outcomes and economic, social and cultural devastation.
With little resistance, Americans submitted to a totalitarian president. We allowed dictator politicians and unelected bureaucrats -playing God- to control every aspect of our lives, steal our liberties, destroy our jobs and businesses and tell us we could not leave home or go to church.
We have opened the door wide to an emergence of an authoritarian biosecurity surveillance regime wedding digital technologies, public health and police power.
COVID lockdowns and mandates are just the dress rehearsal for dark times to come. Next comes the technocratic dictatorship (Great Reset) where everyone must have digital identification, digital currency, digital health passports and social credit scores based on rewarding conformity and punishing non-conformity by exclusion. China is the model.
Interestingly, Ukraine is currently -during war- setting up this system. Makes you wonder what’s going on there, doesn’t it?
How to save our constitutional Republic and liberty? We must first recognize the whole of the Democrat Party and the establishment Republicans are separate wings of the same bird of prey. That predator is global government unleashed by the global elites of the United Nations, the World Economic Forum and the Council on Foreign Relations. Under the U.N. it seeks to devour every nation’s sovereignty, independence, property and freedom.
The Democrat Party has thoroughly embraced a “New World Order” with their “Build Back Better” scheme and climate change hoax. Biden uses the term frequently, as did George H.W. Bush. In 1992, Senator Biden penned a Wall Street Journal piece titled, “How I learned to love the New World Order.” Build Back Better is a catchphrase for the World Economic Forum’s “Great Reset”.
Referring to the “Great Reset”, Klause Schwab, founder and chairman of the World Economic Forum said, “You will own nothing and you will be happy.” In other words you’ll be a serf, living under a feudal system, serving globalist overlords. No borders. No privacy. No property. No LIBERTY!
Americans must resist this tyranny. We must heed the words of the great Soviet dissident, Alexander Solzhenitsyn: “if only we had stood together against the common threat, we could easily have defeated it. So, why didn’t we? We didn’t love FREEDOM enough. We hurried to submit. We submitted with pleasure! We purely deserved everything that happened afterward.
I am writing to clarify the an article in the recent publication of the Breeze about the meeting go the County Board. I attended the board meeting, as a private citizen of Christian County. I work for the Christian County Public Health Department, but in no way was I there to represent them. I would like to take this opportunity to tell the residents of the county of the importance of letting your presence, and voice be heard at the various meetings in our city. These elected officials need to know how you stand, and you need to let them know. I have learned many things by attending board meetings from school board , committee meetings for the city, county and county board meetings. I have observed many tactics to get things done the way they want, not the way the citizens want. Commonly, they send things to the committee , which sends their recommendation back to the board, where the board then sends it to another committee. This makes decisions go on for months, and meanwhile, some things get buried, some things get tabled and some things get passed. Another observation I have made is, they present something, and the fine people of our city/county voice their opinions. Then it goes “dark” it’s not brought up for a couple of meetings, or something else controversial is presented. Which gets the public eye off that issue. Then when we are not watching the item is voted on. Another way they get things accomplished without having to hear our opinion, is declining to address an issue, because it’s not on the agenda. If people were allowed to speak and different times of the meeting, instead of just the beginning, this could be brought up under new businesses. I just want to encourage you all to find out what is going on. I have lived here all my life, and just the past couple of years have I gotten involved in following these meetings. But, watch the paper, the web sites and attend as many of these meetings as you can. We the people of this county need to get involved in the decision making. Thank you for your time.
