Taylorville FFA members take home over forty different awards at Section 16 Banquet

Recently the Taylorville FFA Chapter attended the Section 16 FFA Banquet held in Maroa, IL. This banquet was held in order to present awards to FFA members from across the Section for outstanding performance in Career Development Events, Proficiency Awards, State Degrees, American Degrees, and Leadership Events. Taylorville FFA students had a memorable night by being awarded 12 proficiency awards, 2 State Degrees, 4 High Teams at Career Development Events, 7 High Individuals at Career Development Events, 3 Section State Degree Stars, 3 Star Section Greenhands, 5 District Proficiency Awards, 2 State Proficiency Awards, 2 District Stars, 5 Top Ten Section Participation Finalists, and the installation of one Section 16 Vice President. “This has been another award winning year for Taylorville FFA members. Our kids take the opportunities of the FFA very seriously and have worked hard to reach such high levels of success, say advisor Mrs. Sue Schafer.”
This banquet was a celebration of all the hard work and effort that the Taylorville FFA Chapter accomplished throughout the year at dozens of contests, interviews, and competitive events. Taylorville also had 5 students in the “Top Ten of Most Active FFA Members” in the section. Ben Wamsley was the leader of the Taylorville members in this category by competing and participating in the third most contests of any member in Section 16. Other Top Ten Competitive Finalists were Drew Mickey, Waylon Paulek, Cole Paulek, and Lizzie Schafer. “Our students represented Taylorville High School extremely well this past year. Sometimes they make their success look easy, even though it is not.. We are very proud of these students and happy to see them reach such a high level of success! Says advisor Mrs. Sue Schafer.”
