(TAYLORVILLE) — During the week of May 9-13, Taylorville Elementary Schools participated in the Change Makes a Difference project and Turquoise Takeover to raise money and awareness for the American Lung Association. Students were asked to bring in different coins each day. Monday was pennies, Tuesday nickels, Wednesday dimes, Thursday quarters and Friday dollars. The class in each school that raised the most money won a pizza party. Students were also encouraged to wear turquoise for LUNG FORCE’s annual Turquoise Takeover, which seeks to raise awareness for lung cancer. At left is Lori Younker, National Senior Director of the American Lung Association and Jenny Moats, Memorial Elementary School nurse with Memorial students at the end of their Change Makes a Difference project, all wearing Turquoise in support of LUNG FORCE.
