Pana police deal with possible suicidal person

(PANA) — The Pana Police Department along with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday afternoon to locate a subject with possible suicidal tendencies reported leaving a community north of Pana.

According to Pana Police Chief Daniel Bland, officers later located the subject inside Kitchell Park in a vehicle holding a firearm. Christian County deputies and CIEG responded to assist along with Echo Ambulance who was staged nearby.

The area and perimeter were quickly secured with the assistance of Pana Fire Department and verbal communication and contact was made with the subject. The subject later complied with officers request and was taken into custody without incident.

The subject, who was not identified, was transported to a medical facility for treatment and evaluation, according to Bland.
