Three Wildcats earn MSM All-Conference nods

EDINBURG — Three Edinburg Wildcats have been recognized as MSM All-Conference players. Rylie Burney, Ryleigh Davidson and Juli Orr were given All-Conference nods for their 2022 softball season. Let’s meet the players.  

Rylie Burney pitched in 19 of 20 games facing 496 batters and holding a 2.54 ERA, keeping her opponents batting average at .228. She was All conference 1st team her freshman, junior and senior year (only missing Sophomore season due to Covid). She was an all state 2nd team nominee her junior year. She batted 3rd on the lineup and finished with a .441 BA and led in triples (3) and RBIs (16) tying for the most doubles with Ryleigh Davidson at 6. Rylie had an incredible ability to focus under pressure and was a pillar to Edinburg softball’s program and the 9 victories of the 2022 season. She will continue her softball career at Lakeland College on a softball scholarship.

Ryleigh Davidson played 3B with 17 assists and 15 putouts on defense. While batting cleanup in the #4 spot she led most hitting categories with a .527 BA, only striking out 3 times in 20 games. She had 29 hits, 19 singles, tied most doubles at 6 (with Rylie Burney) and she held the most home runs at 3 (2 back to back in the same inning), she also scored the most runs by a single player with 19. Ryleigh was second team all conference her Sophomore year and first team her junior year. She has been a dominant offensive hitter for Edinburg and an impressive athlete in the softball program and will surely be one of the top players in the area to watch next season!

Juli Orr played first base and center field during her career.Juli was our lead off hitter with a .269 BA. but an on base % of .338. She was third in total hits with 18 and second in singles with 16. She tied for second most runs scored with Rylie Burney at 17. She was an honorable mention all conference player her freshman and junior year and earned a second team nomination her senior year. Juli has been an incredible athlete for Edinburg softball that could and would play anywhere her team needed that led by example with 100% effort whether practice, game or humbly cleaning up the teams equipment.
