PANA — On June 5, 2022 at 6:06 a.m. Pana Police Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred inside a hotel room at Lake Lawn Inn during the night. Officers arrived and obtained information from a male victim who reported being held by two male subjects with handguns. During the investigation, Pana Officers identified a female to be at the hotel room with the male victim prior to the two male subjects later arriving and entering the room. It was reported the male subjects arrived and brandished a handgun before taking the personal property of the male victim including cash, cell phone, and car keys. The two males and the female who had been with the victim, left the area together in a passenger vehicle.
The investigation identified Cody Eller of Jacksonville, IL and Samantha Olivio of Taylorville, IL to be two of the three subjects involved in the alleged incident. On June 5, 2022 an arrest warrant was obtained for Cody Eller for armed robbery with a firearm, and Samantha Olivio for conspiracy to commit armed robbery. The second male involved in the robbery is allegedly from Springfield, IL with identification and charges pending. The U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force was immediately requested to assist in locating the subjects with the active warrants.
On June 8, 2022, the Task Force located and took Cody Eller and Samantha Olivio into custody in Varden, IL where they will be transported back to Christian County Correctional Center.
The case remains under investigation by Pana Police Department with the assistance of the Central Illinois Enforcement Group (CIEG) and the Christian County States Attorney Office. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
