Bloomington –Sunday, May 29 was an outstanding day for a young lady from Morris with ties to Taylorville at the Illinois Sunburst State Pageant! Youth from all over the state competed in a variety of categories. Contestants in the State Pageant, qualified to attend by competing in preliminary competitions held throughout the state earlier in the year. This year’s state pageant was held in Bloomington, Ill., May 27-29th.
Abigail Wiley, age 5, of Morris, was crowned Age 5-27 Overall Princess. Abigail competed and took top honors in the following categories: Red, White and Blue Wear, Swimsuit, School Wear, Top Model Face, Beauty Wear, Talent, Best Hair, Best Dressed, Overall Photogenic, Portfolio, Composite and Overall Mail In Photo Age 5-27. As a result of her success in the pageant Abigail was also awarded a Modeling Contract with Everything Formals Model Management.. Abigail qualified to attend the State Pageant by winning preliminary pageants in both Peru and Bourbonnais, Ill. earlier this year.
Abigail is the daughter of Adam & Allison Wiley of Morris. The Granddaughter of Chuck and Mary Jo Martin of Morrisonville and the Great Granddaughter of Rita Martin, and the late Bernard and Patty Martin of Taylorville. She will attend Kindergarten this fall at Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Morris, Ill. When asked about her big win, Abigail stated, “I just like to have fun on the stage. Pageants are a fun way to learn and make new friends.” According to Allison, Abigail’s Mom, “Pageants are a great way for kids to learn confidence. Abigail improves with every pageant. She is very disciplined and practices eye contact, introducing herself and poise on stage. Her confidence has increased tremendously and we are very proud of her!”
