CHRISTIAN COUNTY — The Audit, Finance and Purchasing Committee met last night on Wednesday, June 15. The County Board room was filled with Members of the committee and County employees awaiting the verdict of ARPA funds.
First up on the agenda the claims for June 2022 were reviewed and quickly approved.
There were no public comments to be heard.
Kent DeLay spoke out during the Survey Records potion of the meeting. There are over 1,300 Survey Books and 18 filing cabinets filled with rich Christian County history. The committee knew they will keep it all within the County but were not sure where to move them to. No further action was taken.
Next Dependent Care was discussed under the umbrella of Flexible Spending. Liz Hile explained the importance of Dependent Care to the committee. If the spending was not approved it would cost $598. The motion for Chairman Venise McWard to approve spending passed unanimously.
Next up was the Budget Hearing Scheduling. County Treasurer Betty Asmussen recommended to the committee the need for a July or August set date. The committee came to an agreement to set an official date next month.
The matter of leftover American Rescue Plans (ARPA) funds was discussed. The committee agreed that a chunk of the extra funds should go to employees who have been with Christian County over the last two and a half years. They reached a conclusion to recommend to the Full Board to provide Appreciation Funds to employees who were hired to the County starting March 2020 to June 15 2022. The funds will be $3,000 for Full time, $1,500 for part time including Retirees who are receiving a pension. No Department Heads will receive the bonus.
The room was filled with emotion and applause.
Lastly the Courthouse Tree Removal project was approved to Long’s Tree Service at a price of $2,400 which will come out of Capital Funds.
The next meeting regarding the Christian County Board will be the Public Health Meeting at the Health Department. The meeting will be at 6:00pm and will be held tonight.
