TAYLORVILLE — The Taylorville Municipal Band, under the direction of Chris Gunn, is ready to “Strike Up The Band” for their 2022 season. The band has been working hard to prepare a fantastic season of music that is sure to have something for everyone! “This year, along with several guest soloists, the Muni Band plans to feature several sections within the band,” Gunn said, “This week we will be featuring our outstanding flute section.” The inaugural concert of the season, titled Flourish and Flutes, is this Wednesday, June 22, at the Christian County Historical Society. The concert will begin at 7:00 PM and refreshments will be available. Bring your lawn chair and listen to the following selections: George Gershwin’s Strike Up the Band; Flourish for Wind Band by Ralph Vaughan Williams; Black Horse Troop March by John Philip Sousa; Beguine for Flutes by Eric Osterling; Our Cast Aways by Julie Giroux; Fire Brand March by Eric Osterling; Adrenaline Engines by Randall Standridge; The Tornado Drill March by Scott Ninmer; Flutes, Flutes, Flutes! By Madden; Blue Tango by Leroy Anderson; Homage: Three Tapestries by David Holsinger; and Carman Dragons arrangement of America The Beautiful.
