(CHRISTIAN COUNTY) — When Democrats go to the polls on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, they won’t have as many candidates to vote for for nomination, especially at the local level. Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
You have to go down the ballot to the race for Secretary of State where there are four candidates seeking nomination to replace long-time Secretary, Jesse White. Alexi Giannoulias, David H. Moore, Anna M. Valencia and Sidney Moore appear on the ballot.
For Governor-Lt. Governor, JB Pritzker is the likely candidate and has token opposition form Beverly Miles.
Incumbent Sue Scherer is the lone candidate for nomination in the 96th Representative District of Illinois.
At the county level, three candidates appear for the three different office up for election this year. Jacque Willison, who was appointed to fill the remainder of the term of Michael Gianasi is up for county clerk and Wes Poggenpohl, appointed to fill the term of Michael Havera who left office early is the nominee for the two-year unexpired term and Chad M. Coady is the candidate for supervisor of assessments.
There are no candidates for county treasurer and sheriff.
For county board, just three candidates appear and are unopposed. Linda Curtin is seeking the four-year term in District 1 and Robert DeClerck is running for a seat in District 2. In District 3, Beverly A. Graham is the unopposed candidate.
