On June 23, 2022, at the Christian County Courthouse, in front of the Honorable Judge Jeff Delong, Jeremy Winters was sentenced to nine years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. The Judge handed down this sentence after a contested sentencing hearing. The sentencing will be served at 50 percent. This is Winter’s third sentence to the Department of Corrections, and his second conviction for possession of a weapon by a felon.
Jeremy W. Winter, 33 of Tower Hill, was convicted by a Christian County jury of the offense of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. The jury deliberated for 15 minutes before returning a verdict of guilty on the Class 2 felony offense. The case was prosecuted by State’s Attorney Wes Poggenpohl. The Defendant was represented by Attorney John McWard.

Billy J. Brown, 22CF83 (meth delivery less than five grams), returned to custody after completing in-patient treatment and appeared for pre-trial. He was released on a recognizance fund. Pre-trial continued to Aug. 30, 2022.
Keffery L. Cothern, 22CF132 (possession of meth less than five grams), appeared with counsel. Second chance bond hearing scheduled for July 5, 2022 and preliminary hearing for July 12, 2022. Pre-trials for 21CF245 (domestic battery/harm) and 21CF308 (violating an order of protection) continued to July 5, 2022.
Pre-trials for Dalton C. Elder, 21CF20 (possession of meth less than five grams), 21CF211 (domestic battery/harm, unlawful restraint) and 22CF17 (domestic battery), continued to Sept. 12, 2022.
Pre-trial for Jeffrey T. Jones, 21CF77 (possession of meth less than five grams), continued to Sept. 12, 2022.
Robert D. Neal, 22CF109 (burglary), waved his right to a preliminary hearing and entered a plea of not guilty. Pre-trial set for Aug. 11, 2022. Status hearing on a petition to revoke probation for 20CF112 (arson of realty/personal property over $150) and 21CF302 (theft/unauthorized control between $500 and $10K) continued to that date.
Michael P. Neece, 22CF134 (aggravated fleeing), had his first appearance. Bond set at $150,000. Appearance with counsel scheduled for June 30, 2022.
Zachary R. Newberry, 21CF44 (felon possession/use of a weapon/firearm, carrying/possessing a concealed gun), pled guilty to an amended Count I. Status on sentencing hearing set for Aug. 18, 2022.
