TAYLORVILLE — Mr. Chris Gunn will lead the Taylorville Municipal Band in their second concert of the 2022 season this Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the Christian County Historical Society. This week the Muni Band will feature the trombone section.“The trombone, because of the slide, can do tricks that no other instrument can do,” Gunn said, “our trombone section will definitely please the crowd this week.” The Muni Band’s Dixieland Ensemble consisting of Dennis Jones, trumpet; Dorian Chase, trombone; Jean Ninmer, clarinet; Reggie Hohenstein, tenor sax; Keith Chase, tuba; and Mark Ninmber, drum set will make an appearance at the concert this week as well. The Christian County Historical Society will have refreshments for sale. Bring your lawn chair and listen to the following selections: American Overture by Joseph Jenkins; The Belle of Chicago by John Philip Sousa; Holiday for Trombones by David Rose; Symphonic Dance No. 3 Fiesta by Clifton Williams; Helios by Jan Van Der Roost; Fall River Overture by Robert Sheldon; Lassus Trombone by Henry Fillmore/ arranged by Loras Schissel; Dixieland Front and Center arranged by John Warrington; Folk Song Suite by Ralph Vaughan Williams; The Rocketeer March by Ferrell; and Carman Dragons arrangement of America The Beautiful. You will also be able to hear the Taylorville Municipal Band on Monday, July 4 at the Lake Taylorville Marina at 7:00 PM prior tot he fireworks display.
