Arrests
June 28:
Michael P. Neece, 47, Taylorville, was arrested for aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving while license revoked, and violation of bond.
Brittany L. Kuhns, 36, Taylorville was arrested for domestic battery.
Accidents
June 23:
A Taylorville man was ticketed for improper lane usage and leaving the scene of an accident following a crash at 7:38 p.m. According to the police report, David L. Maskel, 83, of Taylorville, was driving a van northbound on Cheney St., near W. Poplar and sideswiped a GMC utility vehicle, owned by Robert Scott of Taylorville which was legally parked. The Maskel vehicle was later located in Taylorville and the driver told authorities he did not recall the crash and blacked out during the incident due to an alleged medical condition. After an examination by EMS, it was determined her was not suffering from the condition at the time of the crash. Masker’s vehicle had passenger’s side damage and the Scott vehicle, river’s side damage.
June 24:
At 7:53 a.m., an accident occurred at the intersection of W. Adams St. and S. Shumway St. According to the report, a vehicle driven by Glenn E. Sherman, 86, of Taylorville, entered the intersection and struck a car driven by Ann M. Averette, 67, of Taylorville. Police report the Sherman vehicle did not stop at the stop sign. Sherman was ticketed for failure to stop at a stop intersection. No injuries were reported.
A two-vehicle accident occurred at 10:45 p.m. near the intersection of W. Franklin St. and S. Madison St. The report indicates a car driven by Marina L. Woolsey, 22, of Kincaid, struck a parked car. Woolsey refused medial treatment but her vehicle had to be towed from the scene. The owner of the parked parked car with California license plates, was not located.
June 26:
Two vehicles were damaged in an accident on Springfield Rd., in front of Calvary Baptist Church, at 11:02 a.m. Police said a car driven by Patricia M. Herpstreith, 88, of Owaneco, was traveling on Lincoln Ave. and stopped at the intersection with Springfield. She started into traffic and struck a vehicle driven by Harold C. Marburger, 55, of Taylorville, which was turning to leave the church’s parking lot. No one was injured.
At 3:09 p.m., two vehicles collided at S. Clay and W. Adams. The police report indicated a pickup truck, driven by Oliver G. Payne, 18, of Taylorville, went through the intersection and hit a car driven by Michael E. Morrissey, 33, of Taylorville. Payne was ticketed for disobeying a traffic control devise. Both vehicles were removed to the Christian County Sheriff’s Office following the accident. No injuries were reported.
