Taylorville student runners at Peoria cross county meet

(PEORIA) — A contingent of Taylorville students ran in the Detweiler at Dark Cross Country event in Peoria Friday, July 29. Those participating were, in front from left, Claire Sutton, Julia Chlebus, Elayna Harker, Zac Wright, Garrett Wagoner, Hayden Harker and Jack Chesser. (PEORIA) — There were 13 runners in the junior high and high school runners from Taylorville who took part in the Detweiler at Dark cross country meet on Friday, July 29 in Peoria. Over 1,200 runners at various age brackets took part in the annual event.

There were 485 runners in the high school boys division and Owen Morgan finished 55th overall on the 3-mile course with a time of 16 minutes and 23 seconds. Jesse Sloan was 100th in 16:56.

Other Taylorville high school boys results included: Jack Chesser, 144, 17:30; Brenton Good, 204, 18:15; Hayden Harker, 206, 18:16; Alex Davis, 327, 19:47; Tyler Corpin, 333, 19:50; and Ross Brown, 386, 21:03.

There were no high school girl runners among the 446 who ran.

At the junior high level, Julia Celebes was 44th overall in a time of 15:32 over the 2.1-mile course. Elaine Harker came in 54th with a 15:58 time and Claire Sutton came home 58th, 16:06. There were 129 contestants.

Liam Bettis finished sixth in the junior high boys category clocked in 11:53. Zac Wright was 71st, 15:01. The boys had 134 runners total.
