This city is a mess
Do any of our leaders accomplish anything? The mayor has talked for years about cleaning up this town. That has not happened. The number of cars in yards with no valid plates, homes with junk laing all over the yard, and unmoved grass is ridiculous! Its seems the city leaders do not care about people that actually own their homes. Our taxes go up repeatedly with no city services. Speaking for myself, I can sat the rental properties around me got no attention from the owners or the renters. If renters or landlords were actually given a fine for eyesore properties, I believe things would change. I invite someone to investigate how many citations the office of building and zoning has written. My guess is not very many. Finally, I would ask why taylorville roads; gutters; sidewalks; and ally ways are such a mess. If the city is never going to repair any of those, maybe room in the budget needs to be made to spray weeds. Its is a real proud moment driving down our roads with weeds growing up through eery crack in the road.
Gas gouging
Yesterday (Wednesday, 8/3) as i passed through Pana I noticed that gas was $3.89/gallon. Today (Thursday, 8/4), I filled my tank in Springfield for $3.55/ gallon, while gas in Taylorville is still $4.31/gallon. Do the math- Taylorville fuel is $0.76/gallon higher than Springfield I travel throughout Illinois on a regular basis. Taylorville always has significantly higher gas prices compared to anywhere in Illinois until you get to the Chicagoland area. Kudos to the stations whose prices reflect the recent declines in gas prices. It will be a long, long time before i fill my tank in Taylorville again.
