Tornadoes finish 12th in Taylorville Invitational

TAYLORVILLE — Kicking off the Fall Sports season the THS Men’s Golf team took on Mt Zion, Lincoln and nine other teams in the Taylorville Invitational on Thursday. Lakeshore Golf Course was the foundation for the Tornadoes’ first outing of the 2022 season. Although they finished last, the boys kept pushing through every hole keeping the frustrations to a minimum.
Taylorville finished in 12th place with a final score of 577. The Tornadoes are solely focused on competing says Head Coach Paul Millburg.
“I don’t really care about wins or losses.” Millburg states. “I just want to compete.”
Freshman Isaac Corso lead the pack in scoring. He would finish with a 106 on the day. Directly behind him was THS lead Luke Poor. The junior finished with a solid 107.
Senior Grant Buschon was next in line with a 112 and Jacob Franklin scored a 120. Rounding out the core Tornadoes was Brandon Hefner. The senior notched a 132 on the gorgeous afternoon.
Williamsville took home the victory with a 313 besting the Mattoon Greenwave by one point (314). Finishing third we have Jacksonville at 326, fourth Charleston with 330 and fifth Mt. Zion at 334. Behind them in sixth Effingham (363), seventh Lincoln (375), eighth Hillsboro (395), ninth Carlinville (396), tenth Danville (427), eleventh Greenview (478) and Taylorville (577).
The Tornadoes will take the week off then hop right back to it next Thursday in Lincoln. They visit the home of the Rail Splitters for the Elks Scramble on August 18. Tee off will be at 1:00p.m.
