TAYLORVILLE — The Taylorville Jr High baseball team defended their home against Pawnee on Saturday, August 13. The game was a tight race until the Tornadoes busted it wide open in the sixth inning. The surge of offense was led by Kason Pembroke, Lucas Garlic and Sean Morrison all knocking in runs in the inning. The three combined for 3 RBIs, 2 hits and 2 runs. Also notching an RBI was left fielder/ second baseman Brady Corpin. He went 1-3 with a hit and an RBI.
On the mound for the Tornadoes, Pembroke tossed 2.2 innings allowing a run and earning four strikeouts. Carter Cappellin took over in the third and gamed out. He went on to throw 4.1 innings, 2 hits, 11 strikeouts and just 1 base on ball.
The Tornadoes finished with 8 runs, 4 RBIs in 26 total at-bats. Taylorville completed the victory defeating Pawnee 8-2.
Next up the Tornadoes will be back at home taking on Meridian Middle School. The game will be on Tuesday, August 16 and will be played at 6:00p.m.
