Dear Editor,
Help save the Christian County Health Department. I have intimate knowledge of the past two years of operation as I was one of the Public Health Covid 19 Response Team Members. I say “Team Member” because it took all of us to perform the duties required of us by both the CDC and IDPH to handle the Covid Pandemic in Christian County. We have all seen and heard the damage a few members of the Christian County Health Board have done to the Health Department in the last few months. I had an extensive conversation with the Attorney General’s office on Friday about my concerns about the Christian County Board & the Christian County Public Health Board’s violations of the Open Meetings Act. One thing I found quite interesting is that we can address public officials by name and state their wrong doing. I also spoke to the Breeze Courier about this and basically got the same answer. So Chairman Wells of the Christian County Board and Leslie DeVore of the Christian County Public Health Board, suck it up and stop saying we are being belligerent when we use an Elected Official’s names in our brief 3 minutes of our Freedom of Speech! Also, Wes Poggenpohl you need to back the public up on this matter and address the board when they are unaware of the actual rules they should be following. I was told by the Attorney General’s office to take copies of the Open Meetings Act to the meetings and read it to the Officials if they need to be refreshed on rules they should know. I don’t find that following the law should need to be pointed out to Elected/Appointed Officials. So here is my notice to all County Elected Officials along with those who are appointed. READ and FOLLOW the law! It shouldn’t be up to the public to inform you of them!
