Taylorville— The final Small Town Taylorville Cruise of the season will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, on the historic Taylorville Square. To celebrate the success of the event in 2022, the committee has invited musical performers Lil’ Joey and Easy Pickins to entertain Cruise goers with their authentic sounds.
Lil’ Joey, Joseph Tarczan, is a young musician whose motto is “Playing the Past to Preserve the Future.”
His style is in the classic 50s rock ‘n’ roll, rockabilly, and classic country music genres. He dreams of becoming a professional musician someday. His biggest accomplishments to date have been touring the country, personally meeting with rockabilly Hall of Fame members and some of country music greats. One example is him getting invited on stage in the middle of a concert with The Coasters, as well as getting the opportunity to work at the legendary Chess recording studio in Chicago, Illinois.
Lil’ Joey, started out at the young age of 10, visiting gravesites of many of our past musicians and paying tribute to those by playing and recording their music for his YouTube channel, “Joseph’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Adventures”. Watch him perform at the Cruise from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
Easy Pickins returns to the October Cruise. The duo, Daren Bettis and Jim Thomas, are two acoustic guitarists that both grew up in musical families. They met through a mutual friend and realized their love for music was something they had in common. From that developing friendship came the duo Easy Pickens. Both Daren and Jim sing and play acoustic guitar and Jim also plays lead guitar. Their style of music is mainly soft rock and country, and they enjoy
playing at various locations and events throughout Central Illinois. They will perform at the Cruise from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
Not only will you be able to enjoy great music and tour a wide selection of classic, modified, and one-of-a-kind vehicles, but there will also be area food trucks providing delicious dining options and local retailers offering extended shopping hours for Cruise goers. There will also be a Trunk or Treat from 6:00 to 8:00 pm for area children.
