At the Mid-State Special Education Governing Board meeting on August 24 and the Executive Committee meeting on September 21, Dr. Becky Schuchman was recognized with the “You Make the Difference” award on behalf of the Mid-State Governing Board, Executive Committee, and administration. Dr. Schuchman, Superintendent of Carlinville CUSD #1, served as the Chairperson of the Executive Committee during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years. In addition to serving as Chairman, she also served as the Chairman on the Finance Committee, Personnel and Search Committee, and Policy Committee.
Dr. Schuchman is commended for her ongoing leadership, dedication, support of the organization, and especially for her efforts in gaining input and consensus among district leaders. Her leadership has had a positive impact in all of the 13-member districts as we work together and strive to meet the educational needs of all children knowing that we are stronger together than alone and have many benefits from our collective knowledge and resources. Dr. Schuchman is a long-term educational administrator and former teacher in the Carlinville district. She resides in Brighton with her family.
Mid-State Special Education is a special education joint agreement serving 13-central Illinois school districts in Bond, Christian, Fayette, Macoupin, and Montgomery counties dedicated to the education of all students and committed to the provision of quality services and supports to over 2,000 IDEA eligible students.
