William Mark Roth

William Mark Roth, 70, of Taylorville, Ill., passed away on November 6, 2022. He was born on November 26, 1951, in Decatur, Ill., the son of William John and Kathryn (Murray) Roth. He married the love of his life, Diana, on June 25, 1977, in Decatur, Ill.

Mark is survived by his wife, Diana; children, Keely Roth (Traves Holland) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and William Ryan (Danielle) Roth of Lisle, Ill.,; grandchildren, William Owen Roth and Gabriel Lee Roth; and brothers, Fred, Tim, Ted and Tony Roth.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mark was a farmer, strong contributor to the community, and a dedicated steward of local land. He served for many years on the Buckhart Drainage District committee and served as Chairman of the Board for the Christian County Soil and Water Conservation District for 28 years. He loved the outdoors, adventuring with his family and friends, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Mark was a big personality, known and loved by all. He never knew a stranger. His kindness and giving heart will always be cherished and remembered by those with the blessing of knowing him. He will forever be missed and loved by his friends and family.

Cremation Rite has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held in Spring of 2023.

Memorials in Mark’s name may be made to the Christian County Ag Group Scholarship Fund (care of Sue Davis, 620 N Webster, Taylorville, Ill., 62568), The Nature Conservancy, or the National Parks Conservation Association.

Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.

    I knew Mark through Fred. Mark and I always talked about going north snowmobiling and just being outdoors.

    I always enjoyed talking with him when seeing him at local stores when shopping. He would update me on the family; specifically Ted who I graduated with. Nice man!
