T-Town takes contest from Pana

(TEUTOPOLIS) — The Pana Panthers girls basketball team suffered its second straight loss, a 48-36 decision at non- conference foe Teutopolis on Monday night. Pana was led in scoring by Anna Beyers who put in 16 points, a dozen of them coming in the first half.

Senior guard Kaylee Niebrugge poured in 24 points for the host who improved to 4-1 on the season.

The Panthers got 8 points each from Aryn Alde and Chloe Ashcraft. Jenna Hadowski rounded out the scoring with 4 points.

Teutopolis had a 19-13 lead at the end of the first quarter and the lead stayed at 6 points at halftime, 28-22. The Wooden Shoes outscored Pana 20-14 in the second half.

Pana shot 35% for the game from the floor going 16-of-46. Alde had a pair of 3-point baskets.

Beyers had 10 rebounds in the game and Ashcraft grabbed 8 off the glass. Pana had 11 steals in the game led by Beyers with 4 thefts. Beyers and Ashcraft each had an assist.

At the free throw line, Pana hit 67%, 2-of-3 and T-Town was 6-of-10, 60%.

Pana drops to 8-3 on the year. They will start South Central Conference play on Thursday, Dec. 8, when they host the Staunton Bulldogs.
