Nollie Garner

Nollie Franklin Garner, 90, of Centralia passed away Friday, January 27, 2023, at Hickory Estate Memory Care in Pana. He was born on March 20, 1932, the son of Nollie F. Sr. and Rose Ella (McDaniel) Garner in Henry County, Tennessee. He married Bernice Joan Ring on June 21, 1951, in Centralia.

Survivors include; his son, Alan Garner of Centralia; his daughter Debra (Jack) Miller of Taylorville; grandchildren Tina Marie Miller of Park Forrest, and David Alan Garner of Centralia; sister Ida Cheney of Twin Cities, Georgia.

Mr. Garner was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bernice Garner; his son, David Garner; sisters Ina Mae Pickett, and Delores Hardin, Betty Buller, and brother Jerry Garner.

Mr. Garner was a United States Army veteran, serving with honor in the Korean War from 1952-1954, honorably discharged as a Sergeant First Class. Upon his return home from the service, Nollie worked as a conductor for the Burlington/Santa Fe Railroad for 35 years, until his retirement. He could always be found cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers on Sundays. The Garner family wishes to give a special thanks to the staff at Hickory Estates Memory care, and staff at Life’s Journey Memory care for all the care and support given to him and his family.
