PSH advances to the State Tournament with ease
(TOWER HILL) — The seventh grade boys basketball team at Sacred Heart School in Pana won the Sectional of the IESA Class 1-A on Monday night in the Eye of the Tiger Sports Complex in Tower Hill and are advancing to the IESA State Tournament to be played in East Peoria starting Saturday morning. Members of the team are, in front from left, Austin Ohmes, Sawyer Coleman, Reid Koons, Cash Pollman, Jett Castle. EAST PEORIA — Pana Sacred Heart is headed to the Class 7-1A State Tournament. The 7th grade boys basketball team will battle it out against Pontiac St. Mary’s on Saturday, Feb. 4.
REGIONALS
After a bye in the first round Pana Sacred Heart played their first match of the 2022-’23 postseason at home on Saturday, Jan. 21. Effingham Sacred Heart put up a fight but they were no match for this Pana team. The final score was 46-22 which sent them to the Regional Championship game.
The St. Pats took on Decatur Lutheran for the conclusion of Regionals on Wednesday, Jan. 25. The match was similar to the last with PSH taking a sizable lead and never giving it back. They defeated the Lions by a final score of 40-26.
SECTIONALS
Pana Sacred Heart took on Carrollton St. John for the Sectional Championship match on Monday, Jan. 30. The St. Pats defeated their opponent in blow out fashion again, 47-22 the final.
STATE
With their season record sitting at a cool 22-4 the Class 7-1A State Tournament will kick off on Saturday, Feb. 4. Pana’s first game will be at 11:30 p.m. against Pontiac St. Mary’s who come into the match with a 20-4 record.
