Karen Ruth Ostermeier Kramer
January 15, 1951 — March 2, 2023
Karen was born on January 15, 1951 in Taylorville, Ill. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the Coronary Intensive Care Unit at Hartford Hospital, Ct., for over 35 years. She was a longtime member of the First Lutheran Church in Southington, Ct., alongside her husband Rev. Carl Kramer. Karen owned and operated Optimal Being in Unionville, Ct., for over 20 years where she was able to fulfill her passion for helping people through a holistic approach to healing. Even as she journeyed through her own health challenges, she did not let her illness define her. Karen loved being in nature and enjoyed kayaking, swimming, and skiing.
Karen is survived by her spouse of 51 years, Carl, triplets Kim, Va., Jon, N.C., and Kerri, Va., and Shannon Milliard, Ct., with grandchildren Jaxen and Aaralynn. Also surviving are sister Linda McDermith of Springfield, Ill., and many nieces and nephews. Karen was preceded in death by her parents Frances Ostermeier Abel and Karl Ostermeier, and three siblings; Barbara Canion, Terrence Ostermeier, and Virginia Ostermeier.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen’s memory may be made to the First Lutheran Church, 232 Bristol St., Southington, Ct., 06489 or to a cancer research fund of the donor’s choice.
A celebration of life was held March 7, 2023 at First Lutheran Church. Burial was in South End Cemetery, Southington, Ct. Plantsville Funeral Home, Ct., was entrusted with arrangements.
