Dallas C. Stout, Jr.

Dallas C. Stout Jr, 85, of Pawnee, Ill., passed away on Saturday March 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Carle Bromenn Hospital in Normal Ill., with his loving daughter, 2 sisters and brother at his side. He was born July 1, 1937 in Cooper Township, Ill., the 2nd out of 12 children of Dallas C. Stout Sr and Helen L. (Howard) Stout. He met the love of his life at a community dance and after years of courtship, he married Roberta (Smothers) Stout on October 7, 1962 in Pawnee Presbyterian Church. They were married 57 blissful years which he said wasn’t nearly enough.
Dallas was retired from Illinois & Midland Railroad formerly Chicago & Illinois Midland Railroad where he served as a Freight Train Conductor for many years.
Dallas was also proud to be a United States Marine Corps Veteran. He was the caregiver for his beloved wife, Roberta; her Mother, Dorothy Smothers; and her Uncle Elmer Boehme. He was a 50 year plus member and Past Master of Pawnee Masonic Lodge #675 A.F. & A.M., member of Ansar Shrine, member of the Kerr-Mize Post #168 Pana American Legion in Pana, Ill., and member of Pawnee United Methodist Church. In his free time, he remodeled his home, built his daughter an extraordinary playhouse, planted an annual garden, restored his 1938 Pontiac Business Coupe, participated in many car shows and paraded with the Ansar Shrine Classic Car Division. In his later years, he enjoyed sitting on his patio, feeding the squirrels, visiting with his neighbors/friends and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter: Sheila Stout of Arlington Heights, Ill; brother: James R. Stout of Pana, Ill; sisters: Mini L. (Sam) Power of Crowder, Okla, Mary Martha Stout of Pana, Ill and Connie S. Harlan of Pana, Ill; sisters-in-law: Betty Sutton of Taylorville, Ill., and Bonnie Hart of Decatur, Ill., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, daughters: Catherine Louise and Darla Sue Stout, Parents, Brothers and Sisters: Dale F. Stout, Leona M. O’Dell, Frederick W. Stout, Helen Patsy Beck, Larry F. Stout, Jerry L. Stout and Iva M. Bisby; brothers-in-law: Larry Sutton and John Hart.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, Ill. A funeral service will be held the following day at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home with Pastor Bennie Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery in Chatham, Ill. Masonic Rites by Pawnee Masonic Lodge #675 A.F. & A.M. and Military Funeral Honor Ceremony by the Pana Veterans Honor Guard
