Tornadoes take on Effingham Track and Field meet
EFFINGHAM — Senior Will Colbrook (above left), junior Ava Odam (above right) and sophomore Lilella Vail (below) were just three Taylorville athletes to participate in the Effingham Track and Field meet which was held on Monday, March 27.
Sophomore Sydney Lowis secured first and set a personal record for the 200m dash with a speedy 28.58.
Junior Ella Goodman too finished in the top spot as well as set a PR in the 3200m with 13:16.30.
Odam was one of four THS relay runners for the 4x200m. Her along with a relay team of Sydney Lowis, Liliella Vail and Lyla Repscher finished the event in 1st place with a total time of 1:55.89.
Boys 4x400m relay team, consisting of Jack Chesser, Brenton Good, Will Turvey and Jesse Sloan, finished 1st out of 6 other teams with a final time of 3:48.00.
The girls 4×800 team, Sydnie Vocks, Avery Ellis, Gabby Mireles and Grayce Goodroe, finished second with a total time of 13:20.77.
Colbrook ran the 300m hurdles finishing in 6th out of 8 participants with a time of 51.35.
The boys team also saw senior Elijah Wilkins take home 2nd in the Triple Jump event with a total distance of 10.26m.
Lyla Repscher and Liliella Vail took 1st and 2nd place for the girls triple jump event. Vail also placed 1st for the girl High Jump.
Sophomore Alyssa Andreatta reached 9’06 in the Pole Vault event giving her a 1st place spot while Ava Odam finished just behind her with a 9’ flat.
