First Pana girls track meet held Tuesday

(PANA) — The pana High School girls track team got their season underway on Tuesday with a triangular meet on Carol Schramm Track at Brummett Field. The Panthers finished second with 41 points to winner North Mac with 60. Vandalia was third with 27 points.

In the field events, Reagan McGlaughlin won both the discus and shot put competitions with throws of 27.74 and 9.93 meters. Other first place finishes came in running events for the Panthers including the 4 x 400 meter relay with a time of 5:11.40. Those runners were Morgan Beyers, Ella Cutler, Hailey Durham and Anna Beyers.

Mckea Rhoades took the 300 hurdles in a time of 1:04.3 and Lillian Simpson captured second, 11.05.0. In the 200-meter dash, Aleajah Snyder claimed first in 32 seconds flat. The fourth place finisher was Pana’s Ryleigh Casner in 33.6 seconds. Anna Beyers got second in the long jump with 4.07 meters and the 4 x 100 relay team was second in :57.12. Those runners were Alissa Edwards, Morgan Beyers, Eella Cutler and Anna Beyers. In the 400 meters, Anna Beyers was second in 1:11.4 and Morgan Beyers, 1:13.3, was third.

800 m. run – 2nd place – Sophia Mundy, with a time of 3:24.2, was second in the 800 meters. Hailey Durham was fourth, 3:46.6.

In discus, Nicole Arkebauer was third with a 20.84-meter effort. Madison Walter and Delaney Hackler tied for fifth,18.64. Hackler was also third in the shot put at 8.20 and Megan Scoles, fourth, 5.86. Fifth place finisher was Aubrey Tassone, 5.53 and seventh, Aaliyah Cooks, 4.12.

Grace Elliott was third in long jump at 3.96 meters and in ninth place was Ryleigh Casner, 3.26. The 4 x 200-meter relay team was third in 2:08.9. Those runners were Alissa Edwards, Jadyn Woolard, Ella Cutler and Ryleigh Casner.

Other Pana finishers included:100-meter high hurdles, 4th, Lillian Simpson :22.1; 5th place Mckea Rhoades :23.6; 100-meter dash, 3rd, Alissa Edwards :14.1; 4th, Morgan Beyers, :14.4; 400 meters, 2nd, Anna Beyers 1:11.4; 3rd, Morgan Beyers 1:13.3; 800-meter run, 2nd, Sophia Mundy, 3:24.2; 4th, Hailey Durham 3:46.6; and 1600 meters, 4th, Sophia Mundy, 8:08.4

“All in all, the efforts were solid and it was good to be able to finally get a meet under our belt,” Head Coach Carol Schramm said. “It’s a starting point and we will all work hard to continue to improve.”

Next meet for the Panthers is the Greenville Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 1, starting at 9:00 a.m.
