Tornado baseball downs Bombers

ARGENTA — The Taylorville varsity baseball team had their air defenses primed and ready on Tuesday, March 28 as they traveled to face Argenta- Oreana for their first match of the 2023 season. The Tornadoes rattled the Bombers early outscoring their opponent 8-0 within the first three innings. The victory would belong to Taylorville by a final score of 9-1.

Senior Carter Thomas threw a complete gem of a full game. He allowed one run on just 6 hits while striking out 7 in seven innings total. Thomas, the leadoff hitter, also helped himself out in the batters box adding a hit and an RBI while he was at it.

Two and three hitters Myles Clayton (12) and Luke Ellinger (12) both teed off on the Argenta pitcher going a combined 5-9 and 3 total RBIs. Clayton also added three runs and a walk. Jacob McWard and Colton Gatton too had multi-hit performances. McWard tallied two hits, two RBIs and a walk while Gattons went a positive 3-4 with an RBI and a walk. Other players who added a hit to the 14 total in Taylorville’s column include Judd Bates, Kade Beckmier and Clark Durbin.

The Tornadoes will look to do the same thing in front of their home crowd when they open things up on Friday, March 31. Taylorville takes on Maroa- Forsyth with first pitch being tossed at 4:30.
