Dear Editor,
We have reached a new low! We are taking care of illegal immigrants at the cost of billions a dollar a year, just here in Illinois. Yes, billions of dollars a year, plus the unknown cost of the illegal flow of drugs by some of these illegal immigrants and the negative impact on families!
What’s the new low – families of our Fallen Service Men and Women, (those heroes killed in action while performing active military duty with the United States Armed Forces) are charged between $1000 and $200 to designate a small portion of an interstate or a State highway in Honor of their Fallen Hero! Yes, only in Illinois could this be considered normal! As if the cost of losing a loved one in service to our nation wasn’t enough, Illinois wants more! This is a prime example of America last policy of many of our political leaders!
Our federal political leaders are no better in the treatment of our Fallen Heroes and their families! Take a look at the situation in Congress and the renaming Post Office’s in the name of a Fallen Hero. The CBO indicates these actions (producing a plaque and hanging in the Post Office) would have no significant cost. Yet, Congress takes well over a year for these non controversial pieces of legislation. Generally Post Office naming legislation accounts for nearly 20% of legislation passed by Congress annually.
Can you imagine what the families of these Fallen Heroes are going through? The self serving political elites, a majority who have never served, simply don’t care! Don’t even say they are addressing other more pertinent issues, look at their calendar! They have been in session just over 60 days this year, and a large number of those days were in session less than 5 minutes! How else can you interpret the Illinois General Assembly or Congress’s inaction?
I have often thought and sometimes written that many of our political “leaders” hate America, hate democracy, hate our way of life, and have personal goals to destroy this country from the inside! America will never fall to a foreign power, but if we do fall, it will be from the self serving millionaire political elites! It is time for serious leadership in Springfield and Washington!
