Taylorville JH Track and Field State Qualifiers

TAYLORVILLE — The last few days have been eventful for the Taylorville Junior High specifically the dozen athletes who qualified for the IESA State Track and Field meet. The Class 4A Sectional spanned from Saturday, May 13 and wrapped up on Monday, May 15 sending twelve seventh and eighth graders to the State meet for events like Discus, Shot Put, Pole Vault as well as 4x400m relay and 800m/1600m relay. The 12 athletes are, from left, Brock Walton, Logan Barry, Julie Wayman, Elayna Harker, Elsie Williamson, Gianna Tarr, Connor Hunsley, Joseph Goodman, Liam Bettis, Garrett Lehman, Jayden Lash and Eli Ellis.

Correction – Stats from TJHS 7th grader Julie Wayman’s State qualification meet was left out of the story which ran Tuesday, May 16. Julie gave a dominant performance in the 7th grade shot put event launching her steel ball 27-11.00. All 12 athletes will be showcased at the IESA 4A State Track and Field meet which will be held in East Peoria on Friday, May 19 and Saturday, May 20.
