Bike Rodeo Set For Bike Week Observance

(TAYLORVILLE) — Taylorville Mayor Bruce Barry, right, presents a proclamation to Bud Altman, vice-president of Lincoln Prairie Trails Conservancy, with a proclamation declaring this National Bicycle Week during Monday’s Taylorville City Council Meeting. At right is Steve Dennis, board member of the Conservancy. In conjunction with bike week, Taylorville Memorial Hospital will sponsor a Bike Rodeo on Saturday morning, May 20, from 9:00-11:00 a.m.,in the parking lot of the Springfield Clinic office at memorial Medical Center. Anyone attending and riding a bicycle are asked to wear a helmet. There will be a bike maintenance station, skills/obstacle course, helmet fitting station, safety and Rules of the Road booklets and free refreshments. Participants may also register for a new bicycle to be given away. Other sponsors are The Lincoln Prairie Trail Conservancy, Christian County YMCA, Taylorville Police Department and Taylorville Kawinas Club, Taylorville Community Credit Union, CTI and PayCourt.
