Darrell E. Edwards

Darrell E. Edwards, 95, of Edinburg passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Taylorville Care Center.

Darrell was born on April 29, 1928, in Edinburg, the son of Harold and Edith (Beamer) Edwards. He married Marilyn Thornton on November 29, 1946 in Hannibal, Mo. and she preceded him in death on May 13, 2009.

Family was always Darrell’s top priority. He also loved fishing, gardening and photography.

Darrell worked as an inspector for Allis-Chalmers and also helped local farmers during the planting and harvest seasons. Later, after Allis-Chalmers closed in 1982, he was hired as an inspector at Bunn-O-Matic in Springfield. Darrell was a hard worker and did not retire until he was 80 years old.

Surviving are his daughter, Jeanne Jones of Springfield; sons, Michael (wife, Nighat) Edwards of Portland, Org.; Dana (wife, Taryn) Edwards of San Leandro, Calif..; and Brian Edwards of Springfield; grandchildren, Shelby (wife, Andrea) Jones, Riad Edwards, Tanyth Edwards; great grandchildren Jayln Jones, Jachele Jones and Cooper Lanahan; two brothers Dale Edwards and Jim (wife, Penny) Edwards; three sisters, Rosemary Goodrich, Betty (husband, Alan) Sparks and Becky (husband, Leroy) Best.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marilyn, granddaughter, Lydia Edwards, son-in-law Eddie Jones and four brothers, Harold Edwards, Leslie Edwards, Carroll Edwards and Bill Edwards.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 11:00AM until the time of the memorial service at 1:00PM at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Burial will follow at Rochester Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Edinburg United Methodist Church.

Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester is in charge of arrangements.

    We feel blessed to have known Darrell Edwards. We always enjoyed his cheerful smile and conversation whenever we would meet him. Darrell was a good man.

    Worked with darrell at bunn for some years.really great guy super smart.had a lotta laughs with him.R.I.P. darrell you will be missed

    I am so sorry to hear of Darrell’s passing. He always had a smile and a laugh for everyone – and so kind. My parents – Shari and Quincy Boggs – really loved him and some of the stories I heard . . . well . . . he had a great life! Rest in peace, Darrell. You will be missed.
