In regular session Monday night, May 22, the Pana City Council whisked through their agenda, covering a variety of topics and approving several measures.
Among those, was the approval of sales of surplus property at 807 1/2 E. 2nd, 1200 E. 2nd, and 412 S. Poplar. Alderman Tim Eddy was absent.
The Council had previously sought and accepted bids for those locations. This was the approval of the ordinance to make the transactions official.
A bid from Mike Evrley for mowing the dam twice a year was accepted in the amount of $3,000.
The Council also passed an ordinance to add stop signs to various intersections and adopted the swimming pool rules.
Mayor Nathan Pastor reported that the city is in the process of hiring an assistant pool manager and three youths as seasonal employees for the city.
The council also approved:
• A sidewalk petition for Aaron and Audra Harris at 1 Michaels St.;
• A boat lift for Linda Bergstrom at Lot L-03 and a boat dock and lift permit for Miles Stano at Lake Lot A44;
• Purchase of a 2023 D. Rock Grizzly — HD Model 212 CB (debris separator) from D Rock Grizzly for $18,912 and $1,450 shipping;
• Repairs to the dump truck at Rush Truck Center in the amount of $3,470.75;
• Paying an invoice from Illinois Electrical Works for cleaning and cooling fans on the VFDs for the blowers in the amount of $3,784;
• A concrete bid from Rhodes Concrete for work on the library sidewalk in the amount of $15,888;
• A bid from At Your Service to replace the roof on the Chautauqua in the amount of $56,379.08;
• Replacement of server and storage by CTI for $10,018;
• Purchase of a tile pipe saw for the water/sewer departments for $14,030;
• Purchase of a controller for the #4 filter turbidity meter for the water treatment plant from Hach in the amount of $3,096.04.
The council went into closed session for about 20 minutes to discuss the acquisition of property. No action was taken.
The Pana City Council’s next regular meeting is Monday, June 12, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Pana City Hall, 120 E. Third.
