MORRISONVILLE — (Top Right) The first place 8U team, PMRA, poses with their trophies and pointer fingers signifying “Number One”
Morrisonville was filled with family fun over the weekend with the 2023 Denny Daugherty 8U All-Star Tournament, hosted by the Palmer Morrisonville Recreation Association (PMRA). The tournament consisted of three days (July 7, 8 and 9) of games at Marsh Field. This tradition started over 20 years ago.
“The kids, coaches and families always enjoy coming over for it,” said PMRA Board member Stephanie Lush. “Our concession stand is always great, too.”
The final two games came down to Taylorville v. the Base Bandits playing for third and fourth and Pana v. PMRA playing for first and second. PMRA came out on top with a final score of 16-6; Pana came in second, Taylorville in third and the Base Bandits in fourth. Others from the eight competing teams came from Hillsboro, Nokomis and Auburn.
“These boys played their hearts out today,” PMRA shared on Facebook on Sunday. “Congratulations again to all the winners.”
