Taylorville pummels Nokomis; 12-0

TAYLORVILLE — The Taylorville eighth grade baseball team hosted Nokomis on Monday, Aug. 14. Consistency on the mound as well as at the plate was the name of the game for the Tornadoes as they went on to defeat their counterpart, 12-0 the final. 

Starting pitcher Carter Cappelin shut down the Nokomis offense tossing a complete game shutout finishing with four total innings pitched, zero runs and just two hits allowed. He also notched eight strikeouts while walking two. 

The Tornadoes opened the game wide open in the second inning when they totaled six runs. The offensive stand was led by 1B Mitchell Buffenmeyer, SS Brock Brown, CF Fallon Turner and 3BTanner Clayton who all turned in multi-run performances.    

Taylorville’s offense as a whole finished with twelve runs, on seven hits, four RBIs and ten walks.
